I have always said if there ever came a day when I could no longer meet my duties and expectations as Apple’s CEO, I would be the first to let you know. Unfortunately, that day has come.

I hereby resign as CEO of Apple. I would like to serve, if the Board sees fit, as Chairman of the Board, director and Apple employee.

As far as my successor goes, I strongly recommend that we execute our succession plan and name Tim Cook as CEO of Apple.

I believe Apple’s brightest and most innovative days are ahead of it. And I look forward to watching and contributing to its success in a new role.

I have made some of the best friends of my life at Apple, and I thank you all for the many years of being able to work alongside you.

It’s four in the morning and I can’t sleep. It’s weird though. It doesn’t frustrate me at all. Instead, I feel relaxed. It must be the rain pouring outside. Makes me want to jump in and join. Christina aguilera’s “Bound To You” is playing on my iPod. Listening to this song reminds me of the scene where Aguilera sings on stage while reminiscing the moments with her lover in the movie Burlesque. It’s my favorite part of the movie. When she sings, you can feel how much she’s in love but at the same time terrified thinking that this wouldn’t last. I’m sure every girl in love would feel the same. However, Finding and sharing love with another is like an oasis in the desert. You see it and feel it. You think it’s there and you want to keep it forever. But in the end, it wasn’t real. It was all an illusion. The best thing you can do is cherish that every moment and keep the memories in your heart.
